Dr. Nikea Pittman is a first-generation-college graduate and the first scientist in her family. She grew up in Sanford, FL and completed her undergraduate and graduate training at University of Florida. After earning her PhD in structural virology, Dr. Pittman is now a Teaching Assistant Professor at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She teaches large undergraduate classrooms and first-year medical students, and studies STEM education research.
