Position Overview
The Department of Microbiology invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of microbial cell biology.
Education and Experience Requirements
Required: Ph.D. in microbiology, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology or related field; postdoctoral training; a record of peer-reviewed research. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to building a culturally diverse intellectual community, in line with OSU’s Shared Values (see below).
Desired: Track record as a mentor; experience with interdisciplinary research; evidence of independence.

Department Information
Comprised of 26 faculty members, the Department of Microbiology is fully committed to advancing knowledge through research, educating students from all backgrounds, and serving communities and organizations at all levels. Our unit values basic science and has long-standing strengths in molecular biology and microbial physiology and growing strengths in microbial ecology and microbiome science. Many of our faculty have ties to multi-disciplinary organizations on campus, including the Center for RNA Biology, the Center for Microbiome Science, the Infectious Disease Institute, and the Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity. Our faculty has access to several facilities on campus including the Campus Microscopy & Imaging Facility.
