Candice Price, PhD

Dr. Candice (Allister) Price joined as faculty at University of California, Davis in 2017 in the Department of Molecular Biosciences, School of Veterinary Medicine after having spent many years in the Bay Area where she received her PhD in Endocrinology at UC Berkeley, followed by postdoctoral fellowships at Stanford University School of Medicine and at UC Davis. Her current research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of sugar-sweetened beverage- induced increases in cardiometabolic risk factors, with a particular focus on African-American women. She brings a very interdisciplinary approach to her work, integrating the use of metabolomics, microRNA and microbiome outcomes that may reveal some of the molecular mechanisms that underlie the physiological and biochemical consequences of high sugar- sweetened beverage consumption in Black women.
