Brianda Beverley is a Microbiologist with interests in microbial genomics and a passion for the arts. She obtained her undergraduate degree in biology at George Mason University. Upon graduation, she was accepted into a medical technology certification program where she became a medical laboratory scientist (MLS) in 2015. In 2017, Brianda was awarded the LSAMP Bridge to the Doctorate Fellowship to pursue her master’s in biological sciences at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. In May 2020, Brianda completed her master’s degree which focused on creating a PCR assay for the detection of the marine bacterium, Alteromonas macleodii. Additionally, in order to engage in both of her passions, she created the Flyy Science platform to communicate science to a general audience in a cool and interesting way.
