Microbiologist (AA24027)

The Department of Biological Sciences at Minnesota State University, Mankato invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. Required qualifications include:

  • Doctorate or terminal degree in Microbiology or in a biological science (conferred on an official transcript at the time of application) with graduate coursework and dissertation research in microbiology
  • Ability to teach the following courses: BIOL 270 General Microbiology, BIOL 479/579 Molecular Biology, and one course from among BIOL 476/576 Microbial Physiology/Genetics, BIOL 475/575 Medical Microbiology, or BIOL 478/578 Food Microbiology and Sanitation
  • Research interest in microbiology that incorporates molecular techniques
  • Recent evidence of scholarly activity as evidenced by peer reviewed publications and presentations
  • Professional experience relevant to the responsibilities of this position (e.g., postdoctoral, staff scientist, adjunct faculty)
  • Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an equity lens to this position including social justice and/or anti-racism.

Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, developing a research program that involves both undergraduate and graduate students, and serving on departmental committees.
